Association of Chinese Professionals in the UK
Cathy Lu is Vice President at Alternative Credit team of Ares Management Corporation, a publicly traded leading global alternative asset manager with approximately $131 billion of AuM. She is responsible for originating, structuring and executing Private ABS transactions providing debt financing to alternative finance / fintech companies across the UK and Europe. Previously Assistant Director at the Structured Finance team of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Prior to settling down in London, the life of Cathy has been a bumpy flight. Well packed in were curiosity and adaptability whenever Cathy was ready for her next destination. She has been moving home from the north border of China to the south in her first 18 years, constantly adapting herself to new dialects and environment. To experience the world further more, Cathy went on two exchange programmes at University of Vienna and Boston College during her study at University of Macau (BBA in Accounting) before the graduate offer from University of Oxford (MSc in Financial Economics) brought her all the way to the enchanting and historical college town in the UK.
In addition to her ambitious but well-achieved goal to pass ACCA and CFA at the same time in the first three years of her busy working life, Cathy was also actively engaged in various kinds of activities to realise her community commitment as both the Founder and Chairman of China Connection at RBS and the social network Eastern Blossoms, a non-profit organisation that aims to bridge the Chinese professional communities in London. The highlight for her is the successful organisation of the Structure Finance Panel Discussion & Networking event sponsored by Clifford Chance that was well attended by 130+ Chinese city professionals.
When Cathy is not spinning around her work and study, she likes travelling with friends, sweating on the gym floor, and lying under the sun with her favourite books and music. Do let Cathy know if your lovely pets need to be entertained as she would very much love to help out!
